The man known as Lucky was found collapsed on an Amsterdam street on May 10, 2023, after suffering a brain hemorrhage or stroke. The resulting aphasia has left him with extremely limited ability to communicate. He had no identification documents, making efforts to establish his identity particularly challenging.

Investigators discovered that he had connections to the Waterlooplein flea market and a Buddhist community in Amsterdam, but previous efforts to identify him did not produce a definitive answer.
